Abigail is an old name. Amanda is my favorite. Rebecca is nice, nickname of either Becky or Becka. Don't know any Kalan's. If you are picking out names, check different spellings too. Rebecca has many different spellings.
Rebekka was always one of my favorite spellings.
I always liked Lilith. The original ball breaker. Adam didn't like her.
I like to (in the US) check the Social Secure web site (http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/) and see what names are currently popular. If any of the ones I'm considering are currently popular I'm less likely to pick that one.
I don't like strange off the wall names, but I don't want my kids to be in class where every other kid seems to have the same name either. Not that I wouldn't give them a popular name if I really liked it, but some uniqueness is nice.

I like different names so I picked Kalan. I like the other names also but they are very common.
