I don't know: who else was nominated?

That is one question I would also have but also I have to say I find it premature to award the Nobel peace prize to him at this point. In that respect I do not find him a very good choice.

Absolutely. Let's look at the matter 10 years from now.

If the nomination helps persuade him to leave the middle east, it was a great choice.

If it doesn't, it was a bad choice.

Since he won it this year I hope we find out this year. If he has no intention of leaving the middle east this year he should give it back.

"There is nothing wrong with you doing what the last guy failed to do -- capture the man or men responsible for the mass murder of 3,000 people on 9/11. BUT YOU CANNOT DO THAT WITH TANKS AND TROOPS. You are pursuing a criminal, not an army. You do not use a stick of dynamite to get rid of a mouse." ~MM

I haven't heard anyone make a better suggestion yet.

He was a horrible choice for such a conceived prestigious award. But you are right, there are not many good choices out there, because of things like "political correctness" great men can not say and do things that show greatness.

Because of who does the choosing the PP is a farce and it does not matter a damn who wins it.

At least in your (not so humble) opinion. ;o)

I do not intend to get into a "humbler than thou" contest with you Plawler.

Though political choices have arguably been made before. Obama is the most obviously political choice I have ever seen. Since he was nominated 12 days after he took office, he had not done anything yet.

The Nobel judges have lost a ton of credibility on this one. (Even if you agree with Obama's foreign policies)
