Your construing words.... he says he personally believes a marriage is between a man and a woman..... Your twisting is just like me saying that i am a vegetarian, and i think meat is murder, and then you tell everyone that i would support a proposition that would ban the sale of meat, even though I NEVER said i supported that law.
Giving an inaugural invocation has nothing to do with the issues the gay rights movement is up in arms about. This is a one time event, and PE Obama should have the right to invite whomever he wishes. Why would a religious speaker be needed at all?
Yes, and it would just be a.o.k. with him to invite someone who has spoken about asian or black people, and said they shouldn't be married. I hate how people thinks its "ok" for people to disagree with same-sex marriage, and just see it as "their opinion". But if i were to say i think blacks weren't shouldn't be allowed to get married, then everyone would look at me in disgust..... I hate how we just allow this double standard to be, all i hear is hate, and don't try to differentiate them.
Cooljuno411, I have supported same sex marriage all my life, as I believe strongly every one has the right to be treated as a human and that includes Rev. Warren. No matter how much I despise his stand on preventing consenting adults from being treated equally. Obama picked him and that is the end of it.
I lost a job over my support for something similar. I went to work in the parliament buildings one day when they were voting on an anti discrimination bill, I wore a pink button on my coveralls stating "HUG Heterosexual Unafraid of Gays", my boss went of his rocker. Keep at it though, every one deserves to be happy and treated fairly.
What is appaling is that anyone living in this nation, founded on religious freedom, could seek to block the incumbent President of this country that same right. If you're against freedom of religion and ANYONE's right to practice Christianity, you're in the wrong country.
"It is appalling that President-elect Barack Obama would invite California Pastor Rev. Rick Warren, an ardent supporter of Prop 8 and someone who is opposed to the equality of LGBT Americans, to give the invocation at his inauguration" [http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=389878200&blogID=457217420]
I dont know what the gays are tripping about. Obama said he NEVER supported Gay Marriages so they should just chill out.

Barrack Obama even said no on Prop 8 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eMXdliDGXs]
[and i'm not a vegetarian]
There is a big difference between not supporting gay marriage, and supporting legislation that writes discrimination into the constitution.

I agree - why would a religious speaker be needed at all?
Because Obama still has to "prove" that he's not a Muslim. ;o)
