While I believe you are in part correct, I would like to point out that whilst we have power over our kids, most people don't abuse that power. Others do evil because they feel they do/did not have power. And others again do evil because they believe they are doing the right thing.
Evil itself can be debated, some will say same sex marriage, abortion, religion, political viewpoints, swearing, lying are evil. My personal view is that it is the lack of respect of people for themselves (and their surroundings) is the cause of evil.
Which is why I don't strongly agree, just agree. I don't find sociopathy to be the same kind of evil as knowing better and doing it anyway, though. Sociapaths are kind of like hurricanes and tornados. - bizarre forces of nature that screw things up. People who get greedy and throw their ethics out the window so they can shop at designer stores are the true destroyers of cultures.
Agree. Without money we wouldn't be on the same cultural level we are now, where people from different continents can discuss such a topic without ever seeing each other.
Without money, the simplest transaction between two people who don't know each other would be extremely complicated.
But there'll always be problems like market bubbles because many people get greedy when they see opportunities. So I'd say greed is one of the roots of evil but not the money itself.

One of the most mis-quoted quotes in history (along with Shakespeare's "All that glitters is not gold" )
It should of course be "the love of money" which is a completely different thing.
For example you can love money but have none, or you can have plenty but not love it.
So you could be very rich but not evil in any way, perhaps you used your money for the good of others. Or you could have none but be driven to crime by the love of it.
You see the problem with Brains is once you take it apart, it's almost impossible to fit it back to gether again, it's like a jigsaw of a clear blue sky.
Ok, so right now, just before this goes global (thanks guys for that!) the arrow thingy is pointing a little towards disargee rather than argee. Can anyone tell me why money would not be the root of all evil? I'm generally curious here.
I voted disagree because in my opinion there are a lot of others things which can be at the root of evil. So money is definately not at the root of ALL evil. (Things like religion, jealousy and power).
Money is a means of exchange. You get money in exchange for the hours of your life. If you think money is evil, you think your own life is evil. If you love money, you love your own life.
In turn, you may exchange your money for goods and services, save it, or invest. Would you rather have a gun in your face?
The church teaches that loving money is evil because poor, ignorant, scared people are easier to control.
I'd tend to say power is the root of all evil. For some that power may come in the form of money, for other it may take other forms.

No, but's a common ingredient.
I think it is "the love of money is the root of all evil", to which I would agree.
Really? All evil? If I went out right now and shot a puppy that would be evil but has nothing to do with money.

Well, they can always turn tricks at the mall to afford their bling...and do.
The constent battle of morals vs. money continues. Yeah you got a good point there.
The Bible teaches that the love of money is the root of all evil. Money is a tool. Treat it as such.
Agree. Money is an essential tool for even modest economic progress.

Totally true!!!
The root of all evil in my life is fluctuating levels of estrogen (and I am female).
Same for me, but It's my wife with the estrogen.
Fun with brain chemistry :).

LOL.
I have never understood why boys are not given lessons in ducking out of the way of a flying plate in school.
It is an essential survival skill.
They could use Nerf-style plates until they got good at it, and finish on buzz-saw blades for the real high achievers :))
Make sure they are radio-active buzz-saw blades covered in anthrax ;).
Would you like to borrow mine?

Ok, good enough for me!
The saying is "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil" Money put to positive use is a good thing.

Yep, thats about it.
Money is the root of all evil.
Time is Money.
Girls require Time and Money.
Therefore Girls are Money x Money.
Money is the root of evil.
So Girls are Evil
