What distorted facts? Could you be talking about the ad that shows film clips of all the leading Democrats praising McCain and the work he's done in Washington (including Obama AND Hillary)? How did he distort that one? Body doubles perhaps.
No - not seen that one. McCain has always been one of the better Republicans for reaching across party lines, that's a given. And one of the reasons I think the majority of registered Republicans voted for him when the hardliners were pushing Huckabee, Romney and Thompson.
The ad I've been seeing frequently are those who say Obama is for higher taxes (true for only 1% of the population, supports increased cuts for middle as far as I can tell - but the 1% population is not mentioned, just 'tax increases'), he's for increasing taxes on electricity (can't find a single mention of that) and an Obama presidency will create more job losses (tied into the increased taxation on the 1% again). That's the only ad I've seen, tagged with the usual "I'm John McCain, and I approved this message." Have seen another very odd and quick ad that backhandedly alludes to Obama having little to no support for Israel - but I live in a city that's home to one of the largest per capita Jewish populations in the US. Can't find Obama saying ANYthing anti-Israel, quite the opposite, including an English language site out of Israel. Almost seems to be playing to the black/Jewish stereotype suspicion of each other.
McCain just must be tailoring ads carefully to the area they're running in. I suppose that's what campaign staff are for, and why they get paid the big bucks, eh? (lol)
One of the problems with our system is that the candidates always have to resort to mud slinging propaganda. I think that most voters are not really swayed by these ads but every vote still counts. Either way, McCain and Obama, weren't the first to use these ads and they sure won't be the last.
Seems to me that focussing on the flaws of your opponent just deflects attention onto them. If McCain was secure in his policies being popular and right for the US then he would emphasise them instead of springboarding off a direct anti-Obama tack.
I hate that kind of political BS, smacks of thinking the electorate is too stupid to make a choice without being spoonfed. Fuck that, it doesn't smack of it, it's blatant.
I think with all the millions of people week minded enough to vote Bush in twice, it is bound to be absorbed into these week minds just like the trash emails that have bombarded people about Obama. I hope Obama doesn't stoop to that level, but I think it will have to be tit for tat.
I'd almost like to see an ad campaign, a close up of Obama, playing a clip of a McCain ad, then him speaking, refuting the claims line by line and stating his true position. Tag it will McCain's "I'm John McCain, and I approved this message," to which he replies: "You approve of lying to the American people?" But DAMN I have too much ad-drama in me. (lol)
Now -- that would be COOL!!!
Same in corporate America. Those with limited abilities often resort to tearing down others to reduce the gap. Someone with true abilities does not need to.
What's wrong with negative adds? If the guy is a pus-head, let everybody know he's a pus-head. The PC crap that the Clinton pigs started is not right. Sling mud, that's what it is all about. That's what helps people make up their minds.
I don't think the Clintons started that, did they? Didn't it begin with Reagan against Carter?
Hell yes it did--wingnut is stuck on Clinton--I think he has the hots for Hill, wants a wet pantsuit contest.
Look - some right wing neocon came in and voted every liberals comment down, and every conservative's up. Looks like they screwed up and accidentally voted down Wing, too. Must be a newer member.
Hey Bec44, I like the wet pantsuit contest idea.
Ah HA! A camel toe hunter!
No, No! Think back on it a bit. Remember when Bill was running for his first term? He whined and wheedled with the media to leave his daughter out of it and stop the name calling when they started putting the "Crooked Dealer" label on the Hillary. He begged the media not to drag him and the Hillary through the dirt about the supposed past dealings. Bill is a word wizard. He can call you a turd and make it sound nice and you won't know he called you a turd until he was gone and it was too late to do or say anything about it, and if you did he accused you of name calling.
Guss you are right--pus head McCain should get his mud, after all he did cheat on his wife--with Cindy, Miss Buffalo chip 2008.
