I think the fundamentalist have pretty much taken over the religion. Looking at how Islam is being spread and forced on other people throughout the world I would have to say yes, Islam is a violent religion.
Just to correct on the issue of Islam is forced upon other people, I would like to remind you my friend that Indonesia is the country with largest Moslem Population, just to ponder who invaded them and forced them to accept Islam, nobody! Just believing in whats being told around is not right and worse is spreading it.
So you conclude Islam is a violent religion based on that. People are people, people can be violent and have their own motivations behind it, that doesnt reflect and shouldnt reflect on the religion.
One should be cautious of how one might interpret your words just like you might have interpreted someone elses. Its easy to judge while sitting in the comfort of the couch without assessing the situations.
I concluded Islam is a violent religion because I notice that there are not a lot of open, non-violent Muslim countries. And in fact there seem to be a lot of very violent, very closed, very oppressive Muslim countries. If your assessment is so much better than mine I would love to see what information your generating your opinions from.
No offense my friend. I think you are not getting my point. It seems we can go on and on..just trying to point out that religion and people are different and you seem to have combined the two. Just an example remember the crusade period, that doesnt make christianity a violent religion. It's just people are ignorant and have their own ambitions. Peace out.
And the reason I have combined the two are because people are killing in the name of religion. Muslims in Africa are killing non-muslims and driving them from the homes in the name of religion. Convert or die. My point is that the Muslim religion has not lifted a finger to put a stop to it. No Muslim nation has expressed outrage or sent troops to stop the murder and killings. My point is that Muslims believe and are taught by their religion that if your an unbeliever that it is their duty to convert you or kill you (apparently killing is preferable to conversion). My point is that I see no real evidence that the Muslim faith is tolerant of others in any way. Again, if I am wrong, please provide me with some facts that support your argument. I will be more than happy to consider that I may be wrong.
Yeah, the Koran (the Muslim Holy Book) and the New Testament (The Modern Christian Holy Book) are like mirror images of each other. Nothing but peace in either one.
Let's just ignore the way their respective prophets actually spread the word.
exactly, neither (now i havent read the whole bible but...) specifically say go slaughter people. its the extremists that take the wonderful words of wisdom and love and twist them to use in their own sick ways

Is that what is going on in Africa my friend? Just spreading the word?

other than that, at its core, its very peaceful
