It would be a spur of the moment decision and I think my answer would be "yes," but in doing so my only thought would be I might be able to save them -- I wouldn't even consider that I might get hit in the process.
Yes I think my response would be the same, if I would start to think rational and realize I could actually be killed myself I would be too much of a coward probably, but that is not how these things work. Also if a person A hates a person B, it is very well possiblethat A does not hate me and does not want to shoot me. By jumping in front of B, A might feel the need to reconsider what he is doing.
My mother protected me with her full body when I was 5 years. While laying low on a forest ground one of the countless bullets went through a wide sleeve of her coat and scrachted her arm. We were lucky!
