It's only a matter of degree. If the state has a right to tax you, some percentage of your life belongs to the state. If the state subsidizes anything you purchase, to some extent you also feed at the governent trough. The question really is, how much more a ward of the state will you be after the fix?
Yes but Wingnutt is retired from the U.S. Military. He fed (and feeds) directly from the government trough. So it's a bit disingenuous of him to talk about how bad government is, and how bad government spending is. ;o)
I can talk about it. I and many others that served were denied pay raises many times because of budget constraints. Everybody was getting raises but not the military. The military was the first place where funds got cut and pay raises were the first on the chopping block.
I was a Motor Sergeant. I remember how hard it was and what we had to go through to get money to purchase parts for our trucks and tanks. If you don't have any idea on what you are talking about don't comment.
A lot of people who work for the Government or who protect the constitution don't agree with the way things are being done. An old saying is, "I may disagree with you, but I'd defend to the death your right to express an opinion." Bad government must be seen as temporary and changeable through the political process and balance of powers.
Really? You would defend my right to express my opinions to the death? You would die for me to be able to express MY opinions?
Coming from you Jonmarc, I find that strangely disingenuous. Let me put it another way. If you saw me being hauled away for expressing my opinions, I think you would be standing on the sidelines applauding.

You damned right! Conservatives do scare easy when it comes to having their freedoms taken away and can only do what the gov says is okay.
No, Nutters... some of us don't feed at the government trough.

All good points.

Yeah, yeah... I remember all those years in the military when none of us got paid or got a housing allowance but we just kept soldiering on anyway.

Great comment! If I ever bump into you anywhere the first cup of coffee is on me.
