How much of that debt went to individuals and how much to corporations? Well, what do you THINK Eisenhower meant?

Anyone that uses credit cards because you want it now instead of saving up for it causes many of their own problems. I am a big offender of this. I hate to wait for anything.

ARE the C.E.O.s of COMPANIES (or better yet, corporate C.E.O.s) to blame for most of this country's debt? (Sorry, I usually try not to be a grammar narc, but this one really got me.)

In answer to the question, I think planning for short term profits by major corporations and the tacit approval of investors are mostly responsible, yes. If you want to read a great hair raising horror story, try "The Smartest Guys in the Room". It is about the Enron disaster.
