Yes! It is amazing to me to think that people call themselves Christians and question it's central belief. If you believe that God created everything, why is the virgin birth so hard to accept. It would seem simple to me compared to some of God's other miracles.
Being an Agnostic person myself...I was just wondering what you consider "God's other miracles?" Are you referring to the supposed one's in the Bible, or something else? Do you really believe Mary got pregnant from a supernatural being. You do realize the Bible was not written until well after [maybe 300 years] Jesus was dead. May be the teachings of the New Testament are worth reading, but the Old Testament is a tragic if you really read it for what it is worth. The patriarch's loved to kill in the name of their "GOD"...pretty damn sad if you ask me!!!
True, the virgin birth is not such a big deal. In fact almost every other deity devised by mankind has had the same for their god. I read a list once, and it seemed to include at least thirty. And these are just the ones we have records of!
Everyone is entitled to believe what they want to, yet if you don't believe, people judge you as a bad person...or as a immoral person. I think Jesus was a person, and he was a good teacher...but Son of God...NO...son of Mary and Joe...YES! If you would live by some of what he supposedly taught...you'll be a better person. Maybe we/you should stop thinking you need something supernatural to believe to have a good life!
"Maybe we/you should stop thinking you need something supernatural to believe to have a good life!"
I agree very much. The 'miracles' that abound in the natural world (consciousness, for instance) make the turning of water into wine (for example) a cheap party trick or an infantile fancy by contrast.
I agree with part of your statement- everyone is entitled to believe what they want! I don't think I need to believe in something supernatural to have a good life - just a good after life!
By circular logic we can definitely confirm that Jesus is the Son of God. The Bible says it is so. Or at least that's what someone interpreted Jesus' words to mean. At least, that is, if Jesus was not mostly a fictional superman created by the early church founders. But I digress. Whatever is in the Bible is not allowed to be questioned, case closed. Even if it all sounds suspiciously as unbelievable as a fairy tale or a religion from around the world you were happy enough not to be born into.
I question everything and have come to the conclusion that there is no way to "pass through" an untrue collection of letters from many prophets over the ages. Just look at all the things that were prophesized hundreds of years previously that were completely fulfilled. I think you should investigate this more thoroughly rather than give just a quick remark or call it a "fairy tale".

He walked the earth, He died for our sins, You better believe He is.
And I'll give an Amen: to that.
Yes! If you don't believe, then you'd better have a good backup plan for when you die.
I take it you have been dead, and KNOW exactly what happens to us when we die??
The Father says that He is, and so do the demons; I guess they know.
what a controversial qu. im expecting lots of debate on this one, haha.
Absolutely!
Yes, the books say that he said so. He also said we were all god's children ...
I woul dlike too believe, but lost my faith years ago.
whatever you spiritual inclination is, if you have any atall, i don't see how anyone can not think what an mazing guy jesus was.
I believe he existed, but I do not believe he was the son of god.
He was either the son of God as he claimed or he was a crazy liar! I vote for the SOn of the Living God! Amen!
No doubt in my mind and God be with anyone who believes otherwise!
