Suppose you invite the hot new secretary out for coffee. She thinks you want to take her for coffee. You think it will lead to romance. Is it a date? I don't think so.

So, unless there is a type of date named the "coffee date", the answer is no.
If your going to be a smart a** about it, at least be correct. Coffee is a plant. Some people choose to make a beverage from it.
Any prearanged meeting for the sake of romance is a date.

Yes, there needs to be mutual understanding.
Yes for you... no for her. ;o)
How about a coffee that was certainly not meant to be romantic but becomes so? LOL - I guess it did not start out as a date anyway...
I don't think the event makes a date. It is the intention behind the event.
Dinner and a movie is a date. Coffee is cheap.
I've heard that many woman don't want the stigma of being considered a cheap date. Is this true? :)
