Out going Governor George Ryan did this

He had halted executions three years ago, after courts found that 13 death row inmates had been wrongly convicted, since Illinois resumed capital punishment in 1977.

Yes

I believe in capitol punishment. That being said, I don't believe in how we are doing it. When it takes 15 years and untold trials, hearings, and trips to the supreme court, the process is both unfair to the public, and cruel to the offender. Let's just get past this and make stiffer sentences that are actually carried out as they were intended.

I agree. Why do they even use the kind of lethal injection they use. I have heard of cases of heroin addicts that unintentionally took overdoses and they were dead before they could get the needle out of their arm. Why don't they use heroin as the drug of choice for lethal injection. I am not joking. I have thought this to be a good idea ever since they started doing lethal injections.

That would be too simple. They can't even put someone to death who hasn't had their teeth fixed before hand. Then they have to swab the spot of injection with alcohol before hand to make sure they don't get an infection in the last 5 min. of life. It is just to complicated. Stop the madness, if they deserve death, just throw them in a cell and be done with it!

It's just an academic discussion.

John Evander Couey is one of the reason I still believe in the death penalty. His atrocities to Jessica Lunsford need to be punished by torture then death.

I believe capitol punishment should be brought upon only if there is physical facts that the accused is guilty. For example the West Memphis 3 case..3 teenage boys accused of murdering a young boy. One put on death row. No evidence proving these boys commited the crime but yet being charged with murder and one gonna be sentenced to death. there was more evidence of the step father committing the crime before the 3 teens did it. they were accused because of how they dressed and the music they listened to. http://www.wm3.org/splash.php

I dont believe capital punishment should be put on just anyone unless there is hard facts, physical evidence not just witness.
