Some would say that the elimination of Nazi Germany was morally correct. There are those who deny the Holocaust and say the war was entirely about the US gaining oil in the Middle East.

The Nazis were assholes, they used distrust and hate the people had (like their religion, political persuasion, sexual preferences, race, or life style) to invade other countries. Not unlike the U.S. did when they invaded Iraq.

Holy Shiite! Don't piss off JonMarc, your fellow countryman :-)

I am sad to see you compare the US to Nazis. Although, in all fairness, FDR did create internment camps for the Japanese during WWII, so, hum, yeah, we have behaved questionably in other instances, not just Iraq. However, funny that that period of interment is not given, it seems to me, quite the same vilification as the Iraq War is.

In some cases yes, for instance a war to liberate your country from an occupying force. In many wars however different motives play a role that have nothing to do with moral correctness.

Hum, I can see that, but then again, what moral ground did the Colonies have for the revolution. The 13 Colonies really were not treated any differently than any other colony. You still get to the issue that war, even for liberation, is still going to be deadly and costly, and still the most gruesome choice. Killing a person, even in self-defense is still killing someone; it might be justifiable homicide, but is still taking another life, and the person who has acted in self defense still must deal with taking another life.
