I TOTALLY agree with you.
But the main problem is that:
1. The current leadership in Israel is too weak (there will be elections for the government this week).
Israel has been suffering from rocket attacks for 8 years and only this year the government has decided to retaliate.
2. Muslim propaganda spread across Europe and the US meant to cause a global pressure on the government of Israel not to retaliate.
If I'm not wrong, some of this pressure comes from the US as well.
Israel needs aid from the US.

I have a wonderful wife, no kids and no grandkids. I worry about life, not death. The enemy is not on our doorstep, it's on yours....and they're knocking on your door. They won't go away.
True story. I live in South Florida at a big hospital. After 9/11, people were paranoid about biological & nuclear weapon attacks. We were encouraged to get smallpox vaccines, even though it might kill you. A doctor I work with said, and I quote," What do you think the odds of a smallpox virus being released here is? This is not a prime area like Washington, LA, or NY". Got me thinking that if my world comes down to that, do I really want to live afraid? My biggest concern after 9/11 was about suicide bombers that were so prevalent in Israel at that time.
But what about those who kids and grandkids?
Don't you think they care about their future?
About the world they'll be living in?
Why let them suffer when we cant try to prevent this future catastrophe?
Why do you think people are about the environment?
Why are we all worried about the ozone layer and global warming?
You can live the moment, but the future is important as well. If not for your sake, then for the next generations.
Regarding 9/11, I can't really blame people for paranoid. I can only feel sorry sorry for the citizens of New-York at that time. :(

What is the use of talking to someone barely involved about surrender.
If they were serious, why were they producing millions of bamboo spears so their women and children could join the men in "glorious death".
All the previous campaign up to then showed how much thy thought of surrender. On one island the civilians threw themselves off a cliff, mothers holding children in their arms.

From what I remember Denmarks expereince of WW2 was a 2 hour battle with Germany before surrender and a mild (by the standard of other occupied countries) occupation.
