The question would be better phrased if it asked "religion" rather than Christianity. Given how many heretics Christianity created I am inclined to say "bad" because in the early days of Christianity people were murdered just for believing the wrong "brand" of Christianity, usually any brand but Catholic. Jesus has had very little to do with the spread of Christianity; money and power have had much to do with it. Ask the Native Americans what they think of Christianity.
I wouldn't say "in the early days". Enforcing the right brand of christianity by law was the rule until quite recently, and different sects are still murdering each other from time to time (like in Northern Ireland).
And that's not mentioning violence against non-christians.
He/She has asked that question. I think its really a 3 part question.
1. Has religion caused more bad than good?
2. Has Christianity cased more bad than good?
3. Has Islam caused more bad then good.
I'm guessing he/she is looking for a correlation of how people feel about religion verses a specific type of religion especially with the problems going on in the middle east these days.

Correct - I'm just looking to see how the mostly western, liberal leaning, community feels about religion in these days. Not trying to pick on anyone specific, just naming the major two currently.

I live in Northern Ireland and I think that doesn't happen as much. Although it does happen. +
I guess it was more common 20-30 years ago? Still not exactly ancient history...
No, not ancient at all. Most people here still remember what went down. I don't since I'm too young.
