If you decide you want the advantages that come with cooperative effort, like police, firemen, libraries, schools hospitals, civilization, etc., then you have to find a way to pay for them. A graduated income tax is a fairly progressive method of taxation for raising t5hose monies. Or you can go back to being a hunter-gatherer, and do without.
This question came about when I found out that in the United States, there is now law that any judge, politician or taxman can site that proves that an average American must pay a tax on their labour...in fact all the evidence I have seen seems to point to the idea that the US income tax is 'unconstitutional'....
In UK we managed without it until 1842 (except for a few years when the French were being especially obnoxious and we needed a few extra pounds to go across and kick their butts back into line).
I can only assume we raised income by other taxes before then.
If you scrap income tax, you probably have to increase other taxes to compensate.

What would you syggest to keep a country running?? Where does government get it's money??
The government just wastes it's money, it certainly doesn't need as much as it has.

no sales tax,they do have property tax and a dividends and interest tax.
