This question is centuries old and was formalized by Pascal as Pascal's Wager. I couldn't critique it better than the many philosophers in history so here is a discussion of both viewpoints: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal's_Wager
Pascal and the site you refer to both hold to the premise that God cannot be understood by us. I find this premise wrong. He has made Himself as understandable to us as we can comprehend. Can we completely understand Him? No. But you can't completely understand me, either, and I'm not God. The question is still valid.
