I had a choice to extend my cat's life through dialisys, but he would have never been totally well. I chose to let him go because I did not want his last year(s) to be pain filled.

Well that depends if it is a year of fully physical happiness or a year of depressed, "just let me die", physical condition. I would rather put my cat out of misery then let it live another year in pain and suffering.

And i have nothing to really worry about, it's the dogs that are half broken by 6-8 years of age. My friend has had a cat for about 11- 14 years, don't know exactingly, maybe even more, but that thing is still hoppin' and doing it's thing, just a lil fat.

Let's assume physically happy and then after a year it dies quickly and painlessly. Would the extra companionship be worth the grand?

If it were my dog - yes. They bring me far more happiness in one day than $1k could buy. And $1k can buy a lot of stuff that makes you happy.

like 250 gal. of gas.

Hmmm. That's like 15 tanks. I go through a grand faster than I thought. (sigh)

Not really a lot of stuff is it?? Couple months worth. Hell yes, give the dog another year.

Spent around $1200 and still had to put our dog down 2 months later....

Would have to say no.

My home pet is very clever and it’s uncommonly sociable. It is a cat. She is member of the family. I’m willing to pay a lot more than $ 1000.

There are a million cats running around my city--for a grand, just let me know color and age and I will have one in the mail for you..
