United States

Take him down to the Army Recruiter. If he has McCain's luck he might get to run for President someday (or at least marry a millionaire). ;)
I think the army recruiter might be a bit extreme. At the very least he needs to replace the cost of the car.
I think he might have learn't from his mistake, he will be upset. It's not the end of the world, love him with all your heart, life can be short.
Make a deal that both of you try and get him a job and he helps pay 50% of another car for you, provided he never does it again.
Work together to solve the car problem.
Don't go to Army recruitment, they will teach him how to kill, ship him off and that might be the last you see of him.
I did not get if he was fired or not. I do not justify his or her being irresponsible but S/he is still a teenager they are not the most developed drivers so no biggy. I would have a heart to heart and allow them some input on the feedback. I would also have them investigate all they could on the matter of driving responsibility and give you and the family a presentation by powerpoint or however. Finally i would help them find a job if they needed one or find someone to teach them finantial skills to pay for the damages to the car
Yes, he was fired because the company didn't want someone who wasn't responsible working for them, it was also a potential liability. He also damaged some property in the process.
He is a kid--shit happens, be firm and have him pay but it is nothing that couldn't have happened to you is it? Get pissed and then get over it.
