Unless you were looking for that specific, unique car (not just that model and year), it's not a good idea to show your hand like that.
I only answered drive to the dealership because the other two choices would not even enter my thoughts. There are many things I would do, however, before taking a drive to the dealership.
I'd probably check reviews on the web first, then other web sites. I'd compare prices at many different websites set up for that purpose. I would not visit the dealership until I was certain I knew as much about the car as the salesperson so I could compare purchase options and ask why his/her deal is better than any other deal available... besides the obvious (the *only* ace in his/her hand being proximity to my home.. during the warranty period).
