I believe the intention was to select a candidate who might be on the ballot in November. Paul is not very likely.

Well, with this many people asking for Dr. Ron Paul, ask yourself why he won't be on the November ballot. Ask yourself why the controlled political parties and the media are trying to ignore Ron Paul

I don't really need to ask myself because I already have an opinion. From what I know about Ron Paul, I would join the "conspiracy" to keep him off the ballot.
I go further and suggest that maybe the folks who are asking for him actually favor the Dem ticket and Ron Paul as an opponent would make 2008 the easiest election since Bob Dole got knocked down that long-ago november. I'm not saying any of them are shills, but I wonder why they would favor a guy with his record. That's enough politics for here, darn it. I read this site for entertainment and to see what this very limited sampling of opinions will agree on. It is interesting, but I am sure you know it is in NO WAY a representative poll. Politics are a great way to ruin this site like it has so many before.
He is pro-life, wants to abolish the IRS, return the dollar the the gold standard, voted No to the Patriot act while everyone else voted YES without even reading it ...... what could you possibly dislike about his record?
He is a constitutional purist, he wants to let the internet be without governmental restrictions ....... don't have regard for your constitution which was specifically designed to protect the people of USA against it's worst enemy - the government that is.
Most of all, he is the only one who wants to retrieve the troops from Iraq. We don't even know why we are there and everyone else keeps telling us to stay the course but they don't bother to tell us why we are there.
