Sounds like my dilemma at every gift giving occasion! I usually barely have time to purchase a card and the gift card on my way to the event.
Thought you had three months after the wedding to send the gift?
Is that due to the low life expectancy of today's marriages?
Wait a few months and see if they make a go of it before splashing out?
And here's me thinking I was king of the cynics!
Nope. It was a year when I was younger, now it's three months. Since a gift was an extra, not a requirement, I guess it was to give you time to save and plan for it.
I have never heard of, or expereinced anything but folks bringing them to the reception.
With so many people announcing their weddings up to 2 years in advance, I think there is little excuse not to be ready in most cases.
The goddess of etiquette agrees immediately after the wedding is OK, but up to three months is acceptable:
