I'm not sure that it is possible to HAVE a totalitarian regime that is truly socialist.
Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital, creates an unequal society, and does not provide equal opportunities for everyone in society. It calls for a more equitable distribution of wealth.
That is a far cry from totalitarianism, which, near as I can tell, in practice anyway, consists of the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a few people.
I don't think it is possible to have a truly Socialist government that includes giving up freedom. Socialism is a very democratic movement, unlike, say, capitalism or the corporatist state. Or totalitarianism.
