I love the Apple products in white, a colour that became associated to the brand due to several of its iconic products (and I don't like a bit the "aluminization" of recent products' lines), but since the front of the white iPhone 3G is exactly the same as the black one's (boring black and with the tacky metal bezel), the all black design is more coherent. If the front panel was meant to fit the white back instead of reducing costs and easing the transition from the previous model's design, the white iPhone 3G would look awesome and would be a much appreciated return to the suitably futuristic white design that played a big part in Apple's recent success (plus the metal edge - that, as hideous as it can be, actually serves a function - wouldn't look as bad in an all white design).
So I'm abstaining on this poll: in an ideal world, an all white design would be perfect; in the current state of Apple product's design, the black one is the best option (or the least bad).

Oops... scratch that! The question is "if I HAD to get an iPhone 3G now...". So, in that case, if really really had to buy one now instead of waiting for better days from Apple's design department, I would go for the black (sighing for a "real" white one, I suppose...). I'm voting after all. ;)
