If you could live forever but had to sacrifice your emotions, would you do it? Ask a Question

I asked this question and I still am not sure on my answer. The choice really depends on your views of the afterlife. On the one hand, you'd never be depressed and could see what the future will hold, on the other, you'll never know if there's an afterlife, and would never feel love again...

Well I don't have emotions anyway, so I guess I'll take the immortality, thanks!

If i have no emotions then I can not feel sorrow at my not having emotions. On the other hand emotions are pretty rad.

but you would know that you were missing out because you have experienced emotions before you gave them away. The memory would still be there.

Now I confused myself...

you would remember having emotions but you would not feel emotions about the remembrance of those emotions because you can feel no emotions. you might even understand the idea of emotions but you would never truly know

Life is dead without emotion. There would not be any people. We would be robots. If I am sad someone notices and tries to encourage me. If I am joyful someone notices and shares in the joy and so on...

I wouldn't want to live forever anyway... emotions or no, it would be incredibly boring. After a while, I'd get tired of having everyone die and not having anything new to do.

lol, especially if you didn't have emotions, the thing would be boring from the start.

is boredom an emotion?

Hmm, interesting question. So if it is, you'd just... exist?!

Of course! I would be never sad again. That would be nice, is'nt it?

I guess an AI machine/robot could do the same thing.
