Being immortal is not the answer. Having to live for billions of years, long after our galaxy has been swallowed by that inevitable black hole, would really be kind of a colossal bummer unless some God-like powers were included as part of the deal.
C'mon all you YES voters, now tell me the PLUSes (as you see them) of living forever. I am eager to understand the error of my thinking. :-)

Immortal was probably the wrong word to use. What I really meant was to be able to live through all of human history. As part of the immortality lets assume that you could also always pull the plug on yourself if you got tired of living. Assuming you didn't have to worry about the billions of years to follow, would it still be worth going back in time and reliving through the hardships in exchange for 20 - 30 thousand years of life?
My thought was that history would repeat itself exactly as it's played out. Even if you wanted to change it, you wouldn't be able to. You would get to keep whatever knowledge you have today though.
have you upset some people along the way? you comments keep vanishing :(
It would be excellent if you could go back with your current knowledge, you would know where to be for all the good things.
Love to see JC and see if he really did do those miracles and I'd happily camp outside the tomb for 3 days to see if he come out alive or someone nicked the body.
I love history so having a front row seat for Agincount, Waterloo, or one of Alexander or Hannibal's battles would be amazing, watching the Suez or Panama canal being built.
Of course you have all the time travel problems of what happend if you change something (like a quick visit to the WWI trenches to make sure a certain Austrian Corporal does not make it out alive)

I think a lot of people who place some kind of value on immortality kind of forget FOREVER is just that, eternal, ...just like God. :-)
