Wouldn't it make more sense to have our NATO allies increase their troop committments, after all they are in this with us, a different situation than Iraq. They also strongly believe that the Taliban and Al Qaeda are a threat, this will allow us (under Barack Obama's direction) to send these troops to invade Pakistan in order to hunt down Osama bin Laden.
