NOt relative to the percentage of their income.

No, but they'd have less money to fill up.

I doubt it would work even at a week of not driving.

A week of not driving would costs billions of dollars. I think the government would then step in and force the petrol industry to sell at affordable prices.

Um, maybe that's just wishful thinking. :-)

Some of the people in the White House and a lot of their friends are making huge money while the prices are high. They won't step in.

This kind of boycott works best against individual companies. If we don't buy gas from Hess or Mobil for a week they'd likely suck up and give you a free bobble-head.

I don't believe though that a week (or a month) of not driving would do more than hurt the profit margin of the oil industry. They would respond by raising prices. I think that is OPEC's only purpose.

Gas is a bargain.

For $4 you can buy a gallon of gas and go 20 miles.

Or, you can walk.

Gas is a bargain.

If people just drove 20 miles and went home it might be a bargain, but most people who want to spent $4 to get somewhere often want to spent 10x as much once they get where they're going.

Yes it would, supply and demand....
