The only reason I would choose an animal is because of their ability to persist. Humans sometimes loose their way.
People will crap on you no matter how good a friend they seem to be--an animal will crap where it is much easier to clean up and forgive.
My dog has never even hurt my feelings, much less betrayed me.
My Golden Retriever is very dear to me.(one year old on April 1st) But she is not my friend. she is my dog.
