I would buy concessions at the movies more if the tickets were higher but concessions were lower.

In the USA, it varies based on the region and time of the showing. Matinees (before 5pm or 6pm) usually run between $4.50 and $6.75 per film (plus $3 for any 3D Film or $5 additional for IMAX Films)...
Evening showings of films usually run between $6.50 and $9.00 in the Chicago market, and yet i have heard of some places charging as much as $12.50 per film.

I quit buying concession foods for many years, not so much because of the unreasonable prices --although that was a small factor--but because I did not want a quart or two of soda and ten or fifteen cups of popcorn.
Then they started coming out with "kid's trays"--an eight ounce soda, a couple cups of popcorn, and a small sugar treat. They usually cost slightly more than a small popcorn, so the price is closer to reasonable as well. That's what I get now when I go to a movie.
