Optimist. There is an excellent book out--'Failing Forward' it speaks about the subject of using failure as a stepping stone to success. So we can even look at our failures as a positive experience ---if we learn from them. Is that optimistic?
Realist. The world is made up of as many variations of human activity as can successfully evolve. Until/unless an outside singularity arrives to unite all Mankind, we will continue to fight each other for the survival of our preferred way of life. Inequality of opportunity will continue to divide us, overriding any attempts to unify Mankind along idealized concepts of tolerance, respect, compassion, and benevolence. I don't expect much to change, certainly not in my lifetime.
I listen to music, procrastinate like mad, cook, volunteer... I'm not entirely sure how to describe myself. Perhaps I will enlist a friend of mine to fill this section out about me sometime soon. Perhaps not. xxKP
I think the author of this question needs to realize there are a multitude of perspectives that fall outside of the given categories. :)

Unrealist.
Generally optimistic and more so if certain people realize it is not all about them and endeaver to heal themselves rather than blame others.
