Yep, something/someone (God) had to make the universe. It is too beautiful and too organised, it couldn't just be. But God has always been and always will be. Even though he created something too beautiful and organised not to have a creator, he can just be and always has been.
God is outside of space and time... He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End... We cant' really wrap our brains around that because we are finite beings.
Not everything. We are made in his image, yes, but that doesn't mean we are just like him or we think just like him. It means we are a "reflection" (think: mirror) of him. Not the same as Him. A reflection of him.
Like my soul, for example. I can't see it, but I know it's there. My soul yearns for relationships (that's why social networking sites are so popular). God himself yearns for relationships (one of the reasons he made us).
When I say "mirror", I mean more than an actual glass mirror. I mean an image in the areas of heart and soul.
Well given the fact that Gods are human creations, the God-illusion itself cannot be any older than the human race, so definately less than 12 trillion years. But now I am talking of the God-illusion, since I do not think illusions are real (except to those who have them and I don't have this one in particular) I do not think God has any age at all.
Probably as old as the first agricultural or pastoralist culture. Seems to be pretty much a creation of societies founded on inequity, which anything besides hunter-gatherer is.
God is God.....
He is infinite.

God did not have a beginning. He is omnipotent and omnipresent.
Why not an infinite universe? Olber's Paradox.

So are there things you can see on yourself that you can't see in the mirror?

I asked if there were things you could "see" on yourself. You said, "Like my soul... I can't see it." QED.
Amen!

That's all right. God thinks pollewop is an illusion.
LOL - well that is a comforting thought - I am glad you can read his mind, at least he is not saying he will send me to hell.
Drat, I should have counted the candles when he invited me to his birthday party!

God is not "old" in the sense that God has birthdays. God was never created or formed. God had no beginning. He always has been.
