Love it or hate it, it's the only game in town. Without it, the EU and Japan lose their military umbrella and the global economy loses its markets.
The US is not the only game in town. I'm American and I know that. Obviously the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have proven this to be untrue.
America is a falling empire. It is getting destroyed from within.
I fear you may be right. I asked the question because I wanted to know what people in other countries thought of us. I wonder if people realize that all and maybe even most of us don't agree with some of the things our government does.
I just question how a country actually "gets" to be top of its game.
What exactly are you referring to?

Some of us were born here and it IS a better place to live than most other countries right now but I don't think it will always be so because of the actions of the greedy and wasteful people. That is not to say everyone, but many.
