If you can, the best thing to do is to just let them think they have manipulated your behavior and then just do whatever you were or were not going to do in the first place. If confronted later, just be agreeable and say "hummm..." and nod your head. Act as if you have no idea what they are talking about and never defend any actions you took.
Thwart them whenever possible.
A straight right followed by a left hook.
Your suggestion, Stoneman, is very funny. I practically see your right followed by your left hook and the bad guy is going down straight to China. Good job, Stoneman.
Can you do an invisible knock-out for long distances as well? :)
I have no straightforward answer. It is often a balance of different things. I am dealing with such a person in my life and for several reasons I do not wish to break the ties we have - of which the manipulating person is of course fully aware. So then it becomes a matter of making myself less easy to manipulate, for instance by not telling anything that could be used against me, limiting the contact to the essential and take all that is been said to me with a grain of salt.
I am wondering why anyone can be seriously bothered by such negative people. No, I really cannot take them serious. Instead they amuse me, because they don't seem to realize that they are the onces who can be manipulated very easily. Just a little "tickle" now and then will keep them bussy with their hobby / their kind of drug.
