I'm curious -- the people who said yes -- why do you feel you need one?
Great question! Simple, I know, but I am curious as to why people answer the way they do.
Here a are a few reasons:
1. If there's a power cut, your mobile won't last for long; a landline will keep on trucking even without power.
2. Freephone numbers are actually free on landlines.
3. Calls are much cheaper on landlines (we have unlimited free calls)
I keep one for your reason #1.
MUCH cheaper, plus we have very poor reception for mobile phones in some parts of rural North Wales (where we live).
My alarm system needs a land line.

If Cell phones were 3x as big as they are now I'd be much happier with them.
