I recently read a study that found that in the Netherlands each year one in 50 first year students attempts suicide. I thought that was a staggering number. Perhaps the transition from the life with your parents to being on yourself and responsible for your life and education is very stressful. I certainly thought so, although it did not make me suicidal.
Same here... and I have hit a lot of bottoms too, but it's been my experience that while "on the bottom" there is only one way to go, and that is up. So, no matter where you are in life, when things are the worst you can imagine, just look at the bright side... the worse it is the better the odds are it's going to get better... so why worry? :-)
Kind of what I was thinking. I what more experiences before I die. I want to travel the world and meet more people. As soon as I've done with that, I'm fine with death.
Good point... and if 8 out of 95 have tried, the odds are good that many succeeded. It seems odd that with something as much fun as social networking is anyone would even find the time to try.
I enjoy it so much I almost never go outside anymore and I joke with friends that if people were allowed to serve home incarceration sentences for other folks I could make a fortune. :-)

If someone tries to kill themselves and fails, he/she was not serious about killing themselves. There are ways to do it to make sure you are successful.
You are right of course. I think I made a mistake treating this subject lightly. Just because suicide is ludicrous to me doesn't mean someone else doesn't have a serious problem with it.

Indeed, in the twenty years I have had Internet access I have even seen detailed instructions how to do it with comparisons of good versus bad techniques. There are definitely ways to not goof it up. For the sake of those who may be comtemplating an attentioncide I would post a link to these materials to improve their chances of not dying; however, for the sake of those who are serious about it I won't post anything. Hopefully if you try it won't work. Life is too precious to squander no matter how bad it may seem today.

I asked this question -
No, I have never tried to kill myself, but I do harm myself from time to time (because I feel I deserve it)
Not yet. But if I was suffering from an incurable anbd painful disease I think I might.
Not yet. I'm not done with life just yet.

I put yes for lulz
Well, that's what everyone else thought. But I was just trying to get to the bottom of that wave without ending up on the bottom of the ocean.
Lol-question XD XD XD
Maybe the question should be, "Have you ever tried to kill yourself, and failed?"
The successful ones can't vote in your pole.
