*gasp*!!!
I do not like flying either, but once a year, I do the flight to Moscow from Miami. The killer leg is from Washington, DC to Vienna, which is about 10 hours. But, the drone of the engines seem to make me sleepy. The reason I do not like flying is having my life in the hands of someone else.
Do you fly to Odessa? - reference to your screen name. Just pure curiosity, why you fly to Moscow that often. I was born and spent first 17 years of my life there, however since I left ( 19 years ago) never been back.
My wife used to live in Odessa. Her mom lives in Novovoronezh, so when we fly we usually go to Moscow.
Actually, that is what is happening most of the time, do you drive' take walks,go to the Dr., and so on.---"having my life in the hands of someone else"

Leisure flight with a private plane...
Los Angeles to Australia takes 15-18 hours nonstop. Most people stopover in Hawaii.
If it took me 18 hours to go somewhere I'd want a one-way ticket. :)
I did the stopover in Hawaii, but it is still a very long flight. It was a great vacation though. Want to spend much more time in Tasmania when I go back.

I personally like the hustle and bustle of airports.
Soloed power plane and glider.
Longest commercial flight: Manila to Honolulu, 2 hour layover in Guam.
