I did the same with a toothbrush at about the same age. I didn't intend to steal it though- I put it in my back pocket and intended to give it to the cashier when we got up to the register... but I forgot. I found it when I got home, showed it to my mom, and we took it back as well. I remember crying because I thought they might make me go to jail.
Even as far back as it was when it happened, I'll never forget how embarrassed I was. I remember going back to that store later on and every time I always had the feeling the guy was watching me.

When I was about 6 I took a small toy from a store. My dad made me bring it back and give it to the store owner. Haven't done it again since then.
