I posted this question as I live within 20 minutes of the Atlantic Ocean near Fort Lauderdale. What I take for granted, someone in the Heartland of the USA may never have seen the ocean. I wonder if this is true of other people on this site.
I like the ocean because it's a lot easier to stay afloat in salt water, of course there are a lot fewer sharks and jagged shells in a pool of fresh water. I guess both have their good points and bad points.

I'm a 40 year resident of South Florida, just outside Fort Lauderdale. I've enjoyed watching the area change due to immigration. A lot of it good, some of it bad. But, I realized a long time ago that there is good and bad in every nationality, religion....you get the drift. I have become interested in the Scottish Premier League and in the English Premier League. In the SPL, I root for Heart of Midlothian as my family is from Edinburgh. In the EPL, I cheer for Liverpool as their owners also own the Boston Red Sox. Fenway Park in Boston holds many fond memories of growing up and my young adult life. And, as always, you can e-mail me at odessaphiles@gmail.com....

I live in Missouri, and the closest I've been to the ocean is the Potomac River in Washington DC.
I didn't swim in it, either.
I've been swimming in several oceans, and I live fairly close to the alantic ocean.

Several times, but I cant say I love it--would rather be in a pool of fresh water.

Yes, the undercurrent can pull you out to la la land in no time.
I've been there many times. :)
Me too, but not that way-----;>}
