Isn't it, technically, only in the western hemisphere if you're standing in the eastern one? How does one figure out what's west and what's east when you're standing on a spherical object? And is this why Americans are SO bad at geography? When you live in the United States the "west" is east and the "east" is west. I don't wonder if this doesn't confuse all school children to the point of blocking all that crap out. (lol)

Kind of like we travel to the Far East, but we usually fly west to get there :-)

PS Nice seeing you here again. All's well?

All's good. I see quite a few people here haven't changed a bit. (lmao!)

I thought you died!

x - you're so sweet. No, just discovered Facebook. LMAO!

It's measured from the Greenwich meridian and International Dateline.

There must be a story behind this elementary question. :-)

Did you see how many Americans answered the "Southern Hemisphere only:" question? And at least two American respondants to this question selected Southern Hemisphere...

Duh... you must be a fan of "Are You Smarter Than a Second Grader?" ;)

Anyone who owns a globe or has a world map or subscribes to National Geographic would know the correct answer.

And I see this site is still so filled with intellectual giants it forces you to ask question like this to see how stupid they really are. (lmao!!)

I've witnessed first hand and on this site the reason why an american might feel compelled to ask such a question.

We Americans enjoy laughing at ourselves as a collective. One of the most popular television programs here in the States featured a segment where the host walked about the streets of LA asking the most RUDIMENTARY of questions ("Who did the US fight in their war for independence?" One woman answered "Canada" if I remember rightly). And sure enough - there was always a slew of folks who make total fools out of themselves. We watch such shows and laugh and laugh.

When interviewed about the segment, the host said it was, in all honesty, difficult to find people who were so (for lack of a better word) stupid. (lol) He said he could sometimes be on the streets for a couple of hours AND, when he DID find people who were so "stupid" he felt they weren't really as stupid as they appeared, but simply flustered beyond reason to find themselves talking to a public figure, staring at a film camera with a microphone stuck in their faces and being asked silly questions they hadn't thought about in years. But for some reason no one cares about THAT part of it. Some of us laugh at ourselves, some of us laugh because we (thankfully) see there's someone even DUMBER than we are, some are disgusted there are fellow Americans who are so stupid. I don't care - I just find it funny to see the stereotype shown so crassly and laugh like crazy. But it's sad when the WORLD sees such clips and thinks this is somehow "typical Americans" when it's obviously not. If we were REALLY that stupid - we wouldn't see the humor in our own stupidity. (lol)

BTW- conservatives never see the humor in stupidity. They don't grasp irony at all. (lmao!)

SILLY!!!1!!!!!1!!!
