i always re-member the beginning. it's the end...i always wake up before it ends. often i try to fall asleep to try & pick up where i left off. recently, i've been able to do that - it's awesome to get back & finish it!
You are practicing a step in lucid dreaming! Lucid dreaming is great, but it takes some work. You can find more info online at a jillion different sites.
Yeah, the only dreams I remember are the ones that happen as I am waking up, and I also have noticed that if I don't actively try to remember them very soon after they vanish without a trace left behind.
