Ditto. My uncle-in-law was a cop when he first got married. He quit the force because he was irresponsible with a gun. He shot his wall. He shot the refrigerator. Finally his wife helped him decide another line of work might be better for him.
Jeez. Now I don't feel so bad about one of our actors "only" getting punched out by a customer. (Why are these people going to haunted houses and then getting pissed off when you scare them? Isn't that what you PAID them to do?)
I keep warning people that with all the ex-military being hired by the police force, there will be more and more incidents where civilians are harmed. What do you expect when you train someone to kill, place them in a situation where they are in fear of their life 24/7, see death all around them, and come back to civilian life scared forever.
Ex-military are also the ones who often go postal and wipe out a dozen people at the mall just because they lost their job as a mall security officer. I think the military needs to do a much better job of debriefing soldiers before the are discharged, ala Clockwork Orange.
If they hadn't been trained to kill a lot more civilians would now be alive.

In nature, the Great Pyrenees is confident, gentle, and affectionate. While territorial and protective of flock or family when necessary, the general demeanor is one of quiet composure, both patient and tolerant. The Great Pyrenees is strong willed, independent and somewhat reserved, yet attentive, fearless and loyal to flock and family.
Guns and alcohol have no place together and that cop should know that better than anyone. He should be fired.
I believe that some cops are WORSE than civilians
Now THAT was an awesome reply.. :))

How do I feel? A little tired, a little hungry and a lot bored.
Obviously not bored enough to not respond.
Our police leave their weapons in their locker at work, they don't take their weapons home.
Well, that sucks!!
If they have an itchy trigger finger it may be for the best.
NOt really. If they aren't on duty, why are they assuming they will need to shoot someone?

And the right, pro-police state types will continue to call these things 'isolated incidents.'
Exactly.
What do you suggest--doing away with the military??? This has been happening forever--ex-military make the BEST cops.

Do you REALLY think *debriefing* is the problem?
Only if you think it appropriate to threat your citizens as enemy combatants.
