Yes! Absolutely! Bring it on!

With all the people that have lost their jobs it's not right to leave them to die just because they can't afford to go see a doctor. If the USA is *really* one of the world's superpowers then they need to take care of their own before they give any kind of foreign aid.

So called 'developing' countries will not actually develop until foreign aid is restricted to emergency disaster relief.

Having been involve in the administration of aid at the sharp end I would say that in some countries - eg Congo - it is 100% wasted. In other perhaps only 80% wasted.

It is especially a waste of time when "authorities" in some of the recipient countries are on the docks when donated goods arrive and they appropriate stuff for themselves before distributing it to the needy. We should a.) not give anything to countries where this kind of thing happens, or, b.) insist that U.S. troops be in charge of the distributions.

Excellent point! In that case why do you support sending them ANYTHING? Just so we can say we did? DUH! How lame would *that* be???

The current system isn't working. We do have excellent insurance but most people don't. Obama has said over and over that if you like your health insurance you can keep it. Chipmonk said it perfectly. We need coverage for every American citizen. I am not talking about illegals at all. Just American Citizens.

I don't think any developed country apart from the US believes health care for all is possible without government participation. Even a conservative like me thinks Sweden's tax funded healthcare is a necessity.

Are conservatives in Sweden different than conservatives in the US? I only know the US ones and they are horrible. All you have to do is listen to conservative radio or tv to know what I am talking about. Actually I only thought liberal and conservative were American groups. I don't know anything about other countries political systems. I did not mean to offend you if I did. Sorry.

Of course you didn't offend me.

I understand that almost without exception conservatives in the US are religious. In Europe they are no more or less so than liberals (in Europe this word can still mean centrist but the US meaning, which seems to be leftish, is creeping in) or socialists (which you don't have in any number.

There is no 'conservative radio or tv', at least in Sweden and not much anywhere else in Europe as far as I know.

Thanks so much for the reply. It is nice to learn something new on a daily basis. I am glad the hear from people from other countries since I will probably never to visit. Guess I am finally into the www.

I agree with you there... in the USA as well as in much of the civilized(???) world... "religion" phucks up EVERYTHING!!!

The reason? Because everyone interprets their religion as it best benefits themselves or their cause. "God" has little or nothing to do with their motivation. Even a 19th century Russian author/philosopher saw this so clearly when he wrote "The Grand Inquisitor," a chapter in his lengthy novel, "The Brothers Karamazov."

Given a choice between the US Postal Service, Fedex and UPS, I would choose USPS every time. They have far better service for competitive prices.

Social Security works quite well - unfortunately, their funds were ransacked during the Vietnam war. No pension plan can survive after the managing company "borrows" from the funds - they need to be sequestered and invested properly.

(And for the record, I love traveling on Amtrak!)

They won't let me ask those kinds of questions on here and soon they will stifle you too. Too many liberals on here and they outnumber us conservatives.

You are new on here but please check my profile and look at the questions they remove because they are like yours...

I hope you have your Email button checked or you will not get this. Notice if you want to send me a private msg, go to a really old question of mine and send it then delete it as I will get it via Email but the libs won't be able to see it. Make sure there are no comments above mine when you send it or they will get the Email too.

BTW, this is not Wingnutt in disguise is it?"

Don't feel bad, you haven't been singled out. A lot of my questions get removed too. My opinion is they just aren't open-minded enough. If they don't want to know what a majority think, no problem, ...their loss. :-)
