Actually, this is a yes or no question and I vote No.

HI Mike. Appreciate the response. I intentionally didn't make it yes/no as i'm sure a lot of people will sit somewhere in the 'grey' as it's circumstantial. Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated

The problem is in guaranteeing freedom of choice when the voter is completely dependent on someone else for food and shelter. Do you choose the candidate you believe in, or the one your parents want you to? Would that kind of coercive approach to the franchise make it easier for employers to do the same over time? (although I do admit it was a common enough situation in the workplace for a long time). And other such questions.

Are most teenagers really 'under the influence' of Mum and Dad?

I would say that they are, rather, slaves to fashion and peer pressure. They would all vote for whoever the herd decided was 'cool'.

Very few eighteen year olds have the slightest understanding of the way the world works.

True. In somd places it might be 2% in others 4%.

No, I am saying that children have unformed - and uninformed - minds and cannot be entrusted with important decisions. This does not make them slaves.
