Just park my car is a field of tall dry grass for a few minutes. No problem, and just kidding. But seriously, yes I have started controlled fires several times without matches or a lighter. I normally have a piece of flint with me that I can use to start a fire. I've never used the rubbing two sicks together method though.
Many ways to do this. The most creative way I ever saw was done by Yau-man on the most recent episode of "Survivor." He put a drop of water on his eyeglasses and then used that as a magnifying lense to start a fire. Too cool, huh?

Magnifying glass works great in the sun.

Smart.
I know a way to start a fire with a bar of chocolate and an empty Coke can.
that sounds interesting, explain??
You polish the bottom of the can, then you shine the light of the sun towards some sticks or something until they start to burn.
