"The legal age for purchasing alcohol" does not exist. In my country that age is 16, obviously where you live it is 21. I am just stipulating this for many people ask questions with just their own country in mind without realizing this site is worldwide.

Anyway I voted "no" and I think it would be better to raise the legal age of 16 in my country to a higher age as well. We have lots of problems with teens drinking and it has been proven that alcohol has a bad effect on the developping brain and boozing at a young age predisposes to alcoholism in adults. Also to combine availability of alcohol with the age that people want to party and first obtain a drivers licence is a bad idea. Some years ago a friend of mine got killed by a drunk driver. Alcohol is a hard drug and I never understood why society is so permissive when it comes to alcohol and so restrictive about things like pot.

It should be 18 in the US...age of adulthood.

Im for keeping it at 21.
