Depends on the game. A game about geography, nature etc which states that iys answers are accurate would certainly be beneficial, but violent games would nor be.
I think all these games teach something. TV teaches something. It may not be what we want to learn or what we want children to learn. But they all teach somehting.
They teach much... how to follow instructions, how to strategize, facts about many subjects, hand-eye coordination, and much much more. Much of what they teach is very good.
In some areas, such as teaching ethics, morals, and interpersonal skills television and video games can be very helpful or very harmful... but television and video games cannot be singled out as demons when positive and negative influences are shaping a child's life from all directions... books, magazines, newpapers, websites, music (especially song lyrics), friends, neighbors, relatives, celebrities, politicians, total strangers. You have to teach a child how to discern right from wrong so they make their own right decisions when you're not around. When you are around you help by monitoring their activities in whatever ways are effective and made believable and understandable by them.

Absolutely agree
Not bad for a non-parent eh? ;)
(Just common sense.)
Teach them to watch out for the hucksters, in their 3 hrs a day. ;)
Good idea! :)
