It depends... lame scrawl is ugly and pointless... detailed graffiti on ugly/old buildings is refreshing. True artists know the difference and don't vandalise good looking buildings/walls/trains. Though many would beg to differ... real tagging is about respect. Respecting nice buildings, and respecting the art of others.

Vandalism. And I am amazed at the reaction that grafitti vandals deploy --when confronted. Here is Southern California --they have killed quite a few people. If I confront someone and they try to kill me--I will probably make sure they die---and not me and my family. They seem to be 'extremely disrespectful' of others and their property.
I think is an art, is beautiful, but it complement is the vandalism, that's the only think bad, i think... sometimes, should great this boys paint the graffiti in their house... =0)
Yes, but personality, I agree that they have no respect, but remember that most of this boys never have "studies", also, hey have a Disintegrated family and that's the only think that they can do, talking about an activity doesn't kill anybody...
tuff tuff choice here rab. culture of poverty hard 4 me 2 understand. & that's where i think this 'art' comes from - the street. it's amazing in & of itself, but often, on a beautiful bldg, i find it offensive & outta place. but an expression 4 'troubled' peeps? well...???

what is "respectful" about defacing someone elses property?
If it's an ugly building with paint peeling off and whatnot... you are doing them a favour.
We have a lot of gang territory grafitti in the big cities near me. That is
