Perhaps if they did, they would.

who would you depend on with a life threatening disease and then who would be worth more?? Doctors make better contributions every minute of the day.

The contribution of someone's work is only a very, very small part of what determines someone's pay. In fact it has almost no part in raising someone's pay, and much more to do with limiting.

Economically you want the most you can get for as little as you can get it for. You would buy the hope diamond for $10 if you could wouldn't you? What about the cure for cancer; would you pay $10 for that? Yep, most everyone would if they could.

What makes these items more expensive is their rareness. Doctors generally go to school longer, have more specialties, and have much higher risks of being sued for everything if they make a human mistake than software engineers.

%100 agree. Are you a doctor dr1024?

No, I'm not a doctor. I'm in computers.

Since the typical software engineer's 4 basic food groups are pizza, beer, chocolate and coke, without doctors there would soon be no more software engineers. ;o)
