Without a doubt!!! This country was founded on the belief of our father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Thomas Jefferson made it mandatory that the Bible be required reading in school. Who incidentally coined the phrase "Separation of Church and State", which has been polluted for generations. It is NOT in the constitution!!! Nowhere in the constitution will you find the words...separation..church..or state.
I'm doing a report for school about Prayer in School. is there any way i could ask you to go into more detail about your view on this? Jman13@gmail.com
Thomas Jefferson called the Bible a heap of dung, and he took a pair of scissors to it. You can purchase his expurgated Bible at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC.
There constitution mentions church, god and religion only in the negative: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. . ." and "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States."
Yes....A simple short prayer for peace and blessings. Not bible study because we should include all faiths. I don't think children should be chastised for not participating though.
I think religious schools should have the right to include prayer in their curriculum but it shouldn't be forced on everyone else. Freedom of religion includes the choice to follow no religion at all.
Prayer in schools???? What!? Just look at the question on which is your favourite philosopher? An unbelievable 56% couldn't even recognise the philosophers' names! These were great thinkers in their time, immortalised through their great writing - yet ignorance of even their names on such scale is depressingly astonishing.
Prayer is the last thing that needs to be taught in schools. Reason and the application of reason to knowledge should be prioritised if we are to have healthy thinkers among future generations.
Why should anyone be taught to believe in god? What religion one chooses to follow (or not to follow) is a personal decision, and cannot, not should not be taught.
Not prayer in the schools, but I am in favor of churches making much more use of the release-time provisions for children and teens to leave school each week to take a Bible class off-campus at a nearby church or other non-school location.
So why am I a civilised person, i.e., who doesn't pray? To say that prayer is civilising is to ignore what happens when there is too much prayer among fanatics who cling to every word literally!
Fanatics cling to words that are not prayer, but propaganda from a evil person. That's just like Hitler was. Prayer to God is a good thing. It brings peace and confort to the heart,
Any time you want to learn, I can teach you prayer, I can teach you about the Lord Jesus, and I can teach you about the only way to salvation and eternal life. It really is a good thing ! I am an Ordained Minister. Reverend Jim!

You send kids to school and brainwash them to learn, and what do they learn ? Let's see, school gangs, murders in the hallways, campus rapes, oh yea they seem to learn a lot.
Prayer and believing in God, does not cause these things, but ingorance of the Lord, does.
Prayer was and always has been permitted in schools. Only MANDATORY, MASS PRAYER led by an authority figure (read: teacher) was banned.
I wonder how "accepting" evangelical Christians (and these are the folks pushing for it) would be if the school their child went to was predominantly Muslim, Jewish, catholic, or some other religion and he or she was forced to stand and recite a prayer from another religion, or to sit silently during such a prayer looking like the proverbial odd man out. I doubt they would so readily push for mandatory prayer under those conditions despite the fact that it would be "putting God back in our schools".
Prayer should remain personal except in venues of like-minded and willing persons (i.e. churches, revivals, social gatherings, etc.). Mandatory prayer is an anathema to both freedom and true spirituality.
No. What will prayer do? It'll only divide communities. Besides which of the fictional "gods" do we pray too? Or, do we allow everyone their own time to pray to their own God?
And the "Our Father" is the prayer.I repeated it in school when i was kid. Now I'm an Ordained Minister. Let's see! the kids today don't pray in school. Oh wait ! they do drungs in school, rapes, murders, but they don't pray.
OF COURSE NOT-Obviously the prayers are going to be Christian! What about all the Jews and Muslims and Buddhists and Hindus? What about them? Should we find Jesus just for you guys to say some prayers at the beginning of the day. I seem to recall there being something somewhere in the New Testament about not displaying and showing off your faith.
Also, if you think that our founding fathers were staunchly Christian you obviously don't know anything about American history. Jefferson and the group were "Christian" because that was what the times were like back then. Jefferson was actually an atheist, along with many other prominent figures. If you don't believe me, research it instead of sticking your nose in a 2000 year old fairytale.
I don't think so. I know that there MIGHT be a Devil; I don't care. He's powerful too, isn't he? And he seems to be able to rival the maybe existing God. Different people have different religions, and the Constitution states 1) freedom of religion and 2) a separation from Church and State. Private schools are allowed to teach religion because it is separated from the state. Public schools, funded by the government, are therefore not allowed to teach religion. I myself am an agnostic, and as Charles Darwin said, "The mystery of the beginning of all things is insoluble by us; and I for one must be content to remain an Agnostic."
Thomas Jefferson didn't really believe in GOd, either. He says that "Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear." And everything about drugs, murders, whatever-it doesn't connect with prayer! It's human instinct-in fact, survival instinct-for someone to want to go ahead in life, and do what they want to do. Mother5 said that children should be taught to believe in God. Why? We are living in a world where science/technology are prevailing in people's lives. There are many agnostics and atheists in the scientific world; yet they are successful in life. God isn't the basis of everything anymore.
Personally, I think that God was made on the basis of all other religions; to try and find a reason to all the things in the natural world that people couldn't explain at the time. In Greek mythology, they created all the different gods for the different natural phenomenons. In Christianity, they created one "almighty" being. It's the same.
I all ways love it when I read stories as this and some people jump around and say Oh, there is nothing that can be done about it. Did you know that when the first Laws against Prayer in Schools came about, it was all most unchallenged in Court? As for women,a lot of men do not understand how a woman feels and I wish to share a short short, As we advance into the 22nd century, a lot of woman are so connected to the past of a day that the sense of valuer for her is becoming lost and the respect in that concept will be only ancient in origin.
Before I share, try to understand that I am of a time and a race of people that have faith in that which has become lost. What we are doing will only be a pin prick against the system, but it will....
Please allow me to show you how deep this issue is within a Matrix {of days of the past} that some do not understand. One must be of a time before the Laws created against God through the prayer in school, and to see what has took place for 30 years because of this Law of no prayer at school, and now look where we are at today. I have watched for over 40 years children die in school and this is not a myth. As a child and to feel protected by God, a myth that some seem to say I need to prove He lives.
Because of the diversity between different Faiths, it is important to remember that the goal is to bring back only that 10 second moment of silence, of Prayer. To bring in different Faiths and Bible teachings will only cluster the goal.

When I wrote my first " Boycott" I just wanted to see the trickle effect it would have, with out stepping into a forth dimension and having my in site lost. To bring Life to hope where there is none in our schools through a Boycott and words of truth....
The Arabic Drug Empire is the only one in the world that seeks to kill every last man woman and child in the world in order for their chosen few can repopulate the world....
Our goal is for our words to go around the world, to be heard in the streets to the country until it reaches the White House and shakes the very foundation of this Government Institution. It is not what we say that counts in as much as, it is what we do not say that builds words of truth.
Some say that a Boycott is a waist of time, but it would depend on what is said and how to merge this Boycott into the Violence At Our Schools, to understand we wish to live and we fight with words of truth to in force our right, because we face inhalation through the miss use of a faith.

Yes It should be.

Wow, with these comments, I'm just glad that the majority cannot veto my constitutionally protected rights.
I think religious schools should have the right to include prayer in their curriculum but it shouldn't be forced on everyone else. Freedom of religion includes the choice to follow no religion at all.
hmmm its funny that... i agree with allison... (waiting for lightning to strike)
Kids pray anyway. Why does it have to be "official"? Right before a test Lord knows I pray! ;)
I think it is amazing that people act like prayer NOT being in school is working....are you kidding?!!---and the murders keep going up....

Right on the money.

Your right ! One fool !
Not prayer in the schools, but I am in favor of churches making much more use of the release-time provisions for children and teens to leave school each week to take a Bible class off-campus at a nearby church or other non-school location.
Schools are for teaching. what better place than where they are to learn the most.
Schools! And Home!
Children should not be brainwashed. The whole point of school is to open one's mind to learning. Not to close it to reason!
Children's Minds' should not be brainwashed????
While I agree, why dont we put Intelligent Design in schools?????Our Children ARE being brainwashed.....
Yes, but not by prayer, by evil, drugs, crime on TV to show them how to do it, and so much more that just ain't right.
Because intellegent design isn't science, it is hogwash, no evidence whatsoever except your sky book.
Prayer is a civilizing element in our society. There has been a major difference since prayer was not allowed.
So why am I a civilised person, i.e., who doesn't pray? To say that prayer is civilising is to ignore what happens when there is too much prayer among fanatics who cling to every word literally!

Hitler made prayer MANDATORY in school. His Hitler Youth Prayer was fashioned after the Lord's Prayer. Check your facts.
True; like more murders, and other crimes. What is wrong with these people !
You've got to be kidding...Prayer IS allowed in school as long as it is not Christian prayer.
Christianity is God ! And when he walks upon the earth again, and He will, you better hope your ready...
No brainwashing for kids
prove god is real
i agree, no brainwashing for kids.

We got our freedom from God, and with prayer.
The people that built this country from long ago did it with bllod, sweat, and PRAYER,,,
No. What will prayer do? It'll only divide communities. Besides which of the fictional "gods" do we pray too? Or, do we allow everyone their own time to pray to their own God?
There is only one true God.

Time to wake up my friend, prayer is the answer.
Yeh, we let religious run the governement once, that was the dark ages, seperation of church and state ring a bell?

For Sammy! The I agree the children should not be chastised,
but they definately should be taught.
The parents of today need to get off the couch, stop doing the booze and drugs, and teach there kids.
Hey AlFitz614 , I hope your constitutional rights include prayer.
"If you pray, He will come"...
Aaron, Freedom of religion , no matter what denomination, should include prayer.
Oh lukewake; you'll know when the lightning strikes, if your not with God.

Brainwashed, yes; brainwashed into crime.
Wake up , He will return, and we will all now down to the Lord. Even you my friend!
Yes blytheex, a very big difference, and it is not a good one.
Prayer (faith) is at best misguided and at worst evil.
Even my five-year-old knows not to believe in things without proof.

Proof ! You want proof? read the bible. just like the people that don't believe in Jesus + God.
Well here's an example that's good; Did you ever see a new born pigion? no one really has, but we know they do exist.
Every knee shal bow, every eye shall see, when the Lord walks the earth again, and He will, I bet all the non-believers will pray then.
Now if you don't know how to pray and wish to learn, I can teach you.
Believe this my friend; The Devil is real.
